During a recent trip to Tivoli, we came across an intriguing little hut in the middle of the highway. It rested on a median between the north and south lanes, oblivious to the cars speeding past. Inside, was every kind of local honey and more cheese than you’d could ever hope to eat.
The story goes that a local college had petitioned the state for funds to showcase and sell regional farm goods. A year later, they were getting more business then they could handle from drivers up and down the Hudson. One of the beautiful items in the tiny store were these seed packets.
What does the Russian space program have to do with perfect summer tomatoes? No idea! But it made me look and, of course, bring home these brilliant miniature portraits. With any luck, these veggies will join the very modest herb garden we’ve started in our kitchen.
